A true-crime writer who once worked as a journalist and a prosecutor is suing the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office for the release of investigative files pertaining to the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman in 2010.
The complaint, filed Friday by Janine O’Neill Robben, alleges that the district attorney’s office violated Oregon public records law by failing to meet the burden of proof to justify redacting copies of nearly 800 pages of investigative materials.
June 4, 2026, marked the 16th anniversary of Horman’s disappearance. The case caught national attention in the days, weeks and months after the boy disappeared after getting dropped off at Skyline School in Portland, and the ensuing multiagency search enlisted over a thousand personnel and cost well over a million dollars…
