Disability nonprofit to take over old Freedom Mill site

CUMMING, Ga. — A local nonprofit organization that helps residents with disabilities overcome employment barriers plans to move into a location once occupied by an indoor recreation center.

Representatives and supporters of Creative Enterprises showed up at a Sept. 3 Forsyth County Board of Commissioners meeting to thank commissioners for giving the green light for the move. Commissioners approved zoning conditions and variances for the nonprofit to take over the property at 2730 Spot Road.

The space was home to Freedom Mill, an entertainment center that offered an arcade, brewery, axe-throwing, a gun range and other activities. It shuttered in 2025…
