Polk jail inmate dies at hospital after medical incident

A Dallas woman allegedly showing symptoms of withdrawal has died after becoming unresponsive while being held at the Polk County Jail earlier this week, according to jail officials.

The incident happened at approximately 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Officials identified the woman as Andrea Nicole Sevcech, 43, of Dallas.

Sevcech had been in custody for about two days and was being monitored by jail staff for apparent signs of withdrawal, officials said. She had been arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and was medically cleared for admission to the jail by Polk Medical Center…
