KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Jackson County’s new Arson Focused Deterrence Initiative charged a man this week in connection with another fire at Olive Park Village, prosecutors said.
Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson said the team was created after two prosecutors pitched her the idea.
“Our Arson Focused Deterrence Initiative is an initiative that was really curated and spearheaded by two amazing prosecutors in our office, Julie Hamilton and Ryan Miller, who have kind of positioned themselves as our arson gurus, if you will,” Johnson said. “When they looked at some of the hotspot map data, they realized that we had a big concentration of arsons occurring within the East Patrol zone here in Kansas City.”
Charges filed in latest fire
According to a press release from Johnson’s office, Kevone J. Allen faces second-degree burglary and second-degree arson charges. Charges are only accusations, and Allen is presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty or pleads guilty…
