(KRON) — The Bay Area is about to lose another of its long-running, independent music venues. In a year where we’ve already seen the announced closures of Bottom of the Hill and Thee Parkside in San Francisco, the final curtain is coming down on one of the East Bay’s most beloved venues.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Oakland’s Eli’s Mile High Club announced that it would be closing at the end of October, after 50 years.

“Hello beloved community, it is hard to announce that Eli’s Mile High Club will be closing its doors at the end of October,” the venue posted, adding that it still hopes to reopen.
“If you have ever played a show, thrown a benefit, been an artist in our market, adopted a dog from OAS, watched the baseball team ‘The Beers,’ danced at Blues nights, played pool, grabbed a bite to eat with friends, are homies with this amazing staff, or simply slapped your sticker or tag on our walls, let them know that 50 years of community culture is important and you DO NOT want to see another Oakland treasure disappear!” the post continued…
