FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Earlier this month, ARCH, a nonprofit that advocates for the protection and preservation of historically significant buildings in northeast Indiana, announced the acquisition of four buildings south of downtown Fort Wayne.
1902, 1908, and 1912 S. Calhoun St. and 121 W. Masterson St. were all donated to ARCH. The nonprofit’s executive director said that, while an appraisal of the properties has not been completed, he estimates the value of the donation to be well over $300,000.

The buildings, which were originally built in the 1880s, have housed everything from an ice cream shop, a speakeasy and an automotive paint supply company as recently as last month. The second floor was also used as a residential space. The plan is to bring bustling retail spaces back to the ground floors and apartments back to the second floors, ARCH executive director Michael Galbraith said.
“We’ll start by making sure these are reasonably priced so that the people that are from Fort Wayne and from the area have the opportunity to put their dream into these spaces,” Galbraith said…
