OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) — The sister of an Ocala teenager killed while walking to a bus stop says some safety improvements could still be years away, but she’s now working on her own solution to help children, particularly during the dark early morning hours.
Shanta Norton’s sister, Shannon Rushing, 18, was killed last October after she was struck by a car while walking to a bus stop on Northwest Old Blitchton Road.
An Ocala Police investigation found the 60-year-old driver would not face charges, citing poor visibility on the road that morning. Police also said Rushing was walking in the middle of the road while wearing headphones. Norton has denied that claim…
