The day the family of a 5-year-old girl killed in Pierce County laid her to rest, they still did not know what happened to their “beautiful” and “sassy” little girl. While they grieved, Sheriff Keith Swank posted his opinion online with a tone of certainty.
“I need to set the record straight,” Swank wrote Sept. 12 on X, responding to a post that claimed the girl was killed by a cougar. “The dog, I repeat, the dog killed this poor child. It is very tragic, but it was the dog, not a cougar.”
Alice Jo Sandholm Locke’s cause of death had not been confirmed by the Medical Examiner’s Office, and it remained pending Tuesday. In follow-up posts on social media, a commenter asked Swank what the source of his information was. He responded: “My brain.”…
