Ja’Quan Dontremique Green, 25, of Middle River, was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison plus 20 years for the 2022 shooting death of Britrain Marcelus Gray, a McDonald’s employee working at the drive-thru window in Gambrills. Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Elizabeth Morris imposed the sentence after a jury convicted Green in January of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a crime of violence.
Gray, 23, of Odenton, was working at the McDonald’s at 1130 Crain Highway South when he was shot shortly before 4:45 a.m. on May 13, 2022. Officers found him inside the restaurant’s cash booth area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Today’s sentence delivers justice for Britrain Gray and ensures that a dangerous offender is removed from our community. This senseless violence stole a young man’s life while he was working the overnight shift at the drive-through window. Though nothing can undo this tragedy, I hope this sentence brings some measure of peace and closure to Britrain’s family, many of whom endured seeing the horrific evidence of their brother gunned down while he was building Happy Meal boxes for kids,” State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said.
Surveillance Video and Ballistics Evidence
According to prosecutors, surveillance video showed a black sedan circle the restaurant before the shooter approached the drive-thru window and fired three shots at Gray from close range. The shooter then ran back to the vehicle.
Investigators compared the vehicle and the shooter’s clothing with images and videos from Green’s social media accounts. A search of Green’s home turned up a jacket, boots and gloves that appeared similar to those worn by the shooter, prosecutors said…
