MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The city of Memphis is pushing hard to fight blight. By the end of this week, the city expects to have demolished 100 structures that were deemed condemned and a risk to the neighborhoods they sit in.
The demolition of an old, dilapidated home is occurring in South Memphis. We hear from people all the time about these blighted homes in neighborhoods bringing so much more than just an eyesore to the area. They can also be a place where crime happens.
The city says they are doing something about these old, blighted homes, causing problems in communities, but to get to this point where demolition is happening, it’s quite a lengthy process.
