Local bands bring the talent during weekend competitions

It was a weekend full of competition and music, as high school marching bands from across the state competed at various events on Saturday.

One of those was the Christian County Tiger Band, which advanced to finals at the prestigious Bands of America competition in Louisville, Kentucky. After a hard fight, Christian County placed 9th overall, an improvement over last year’s placement. They finished right behind Murray High School, placing 8th, continuing what is shaping up to be a heated rivalry this year. Carmel High School out of Indiana claimed Grand Champion in that event.

At the Muhlenberg Marching Classic, Trigg County Marching Band got first place in their class—which is 3A—and was also awarded Best Color Guard and Best Percussion in their class…
