Lexington’s Street Fest reimagines how streets can be used

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Saturday was a celebration of streets as shared public spaces as the City of Lexington hosted Street Fest, an event designed to show that roadways can be used for more than just driving.

Shropshire Avenue was transformed with activities that included bike rides, chalk art and food trucks. Organizers said the event highlighted the many ways streets can serve residents beyond vehicle traffic.

Several safety resources were distributed during the event, including reflective vests, bicycle helmets and bike lights, aimed at helping pedestrians and cyclists stay safe.
