Sandy Springs seeks $3M state grant for river trail segment

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Sandy Springs will seek state money for a 1.6-mile trail segment along the Chattahoochee River after the city council voted 4-2 Oct. 6 to approve a Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program grant application.

Council Members Melody Kelley and Mary Ford voted against the measure.

Part of the Springway Trail Network, Segment 2C would be a 12-foot-wide multi-use path starting at Morgan Falls Overlook Park. It would wind through the woods and connect with a new sidewalk on Grogans Ferry Road that leads to Roswell Road…
