Baton Rouge R&B Hotspot Ditches College Drive for Bigger Bennington Digs

Baton Rouge’s grown-folks R&B crowd is in for a change of scenery. The R&B Lounge, a cocktail spot that opened in 2022 and built a following on College Drive, is preparing to move into a freestanding building on Bennington Avenue.

Owner Bianca Perkins has filed paperwork to relocate the lounge from 3151 College Drive into the former Green Rabbit Tavern at 4612 Bennington Ave. It is a shift from a plaza suite to a standalone space with more room for seating and events, a sizable physical upgrade for a bar that leans on throwback R&B and curated cocktails to pull in its audience. The lounge has not announced an opening date for the Bennington location.

Move First Spotted In Local Coverage

The relocation first surfaced after a liquor-license filing listed The R&B Cocktail Lounge at 4612 Bennington Ave, according to What Now. That coverage notes Perkins opened the lounge in 2022 and expanded within its College Drive space in 2024 as the concept gained popularity.

What Now also highlighted the lounge’s tropical-leaning cocktail lineup and compact food program, which includes wings, boudin egg rolls, and chips and queso. The outlet reported there is still no announced opening date for the Bennington spot.

The City of Baton Rouge Alcoholic Beverage Control Board agenda includes an entry for “The R&B Cocktail Lounge LLC” at 4612 Bennington Ave as a Notice of Intent to proceed with a Class A Beer & Liquor license, per the City of Baton Rouge.
