AG: Deputy’s 100-mph chases, other violations show pattern of misconduct. ‘I wasn’t letting him go’

Syracuse, N.Y. – Onondaga County sheriff’s deputy Joseph Strom twice pursued cars at more than 110 mph at night, once on snow-covered roads.

The deputy didn’t radio in to notify superiors about the chases or fill out required paperwork afterward, a state investigation later revealed. He failed to use his body camera to record his actions and, when confronted, gave investigators accounts that were provably false.

In one case, Strom hit a person in the face while detaining him. Strom denied hitting him, but dashcam footage revealed to investigators that was not true…
