School district calls emergency meeting about cutting reserves

PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Public Schools is having an emergency meeting to review a proposal related to slashing how much of its referendum revenue it saves.

It starts at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and will be held virtually.

The School Board is considering cutting its referendum reserve by more than half, from $8 million to about $3.8 million, and may phase in the reduction over several years, pending feedback from other officials…
