A serial shoplifter suspected of skip scanning was arrested at a Walmart in The Villages.
Joyce Reddick Freeman, 61, of Fruitland Park, was arrested Sunday morning on a felony charge of theft at the Walmart at Sarasota Plaza.
She went to the self-checkout aisle at the store and failed to scan some of the merchandise she had selected, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Her actions were captured on surveillance. She attempted to leave the store without paying for $52.79 worth of items for which she had not paid.
She was detained by store personnel. A deputy arrived at the store and found that Freeman had been convicted of shoplifting in 2002 and 2003 in Lake County…
