Raymond — The 17th-ranked Northwest Mississippi Community College softball team (22-13, 14-6) lost both games of a doubleheader at 19th-ranked Hinds Community College (26-13, 13-5) on Saturday. The Rangers fell 11-3 in the opener and 3-0 in the nightcap.
The first game was shortened by the run rule after five innings. Hinds scored four runs in the first inning, including three with two outs on a double, triple, and single. Lindsey Gillis set a school record with her 12th caught stealing of the season to end the inning.
Northwest responded with a run in the third on a double steal, and added two more in the fifth on a double by Handley McAtee, bringing the score to 7-3.
