ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Pancakes was surprisingly awake, hungry and happy when the cameras showed up on Tuesday to tour her new home. She likes to nap, her friends say, sometimes over 20 hours a day, but maybe the new space had her excited.
Either way, Pancakes, a Hoffman’s Two-Toed Sloth, has been enjoying the misters in the new Sloth Atrium. Located in the middle of the primate house, Pancakes has dozens of vines, trees, plants and other rainforest environment foliage to make herself comfortable.
The new Sloth Atrium at the Primate House is a total reuse of the main space. Opening on April 15, the new design will allow two sloths — Rolo, a one-year-old newbie to the St. Louis Zoo, to live near Pancakes.
