Spokane Valley gas theft suspect arrested after $2,000 in damage

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said deputies, detectives and the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) worked together to arrest a man accused of causing more than $2,000 in damage to steal about $25 in gas in Spokane Valley.

According to SCSO, a business employee reported the damage on April 2 after someone drilled into the gas tank of a work van near North Hutchinson Road and East Indiana Avenue on March 29. The employee explained the tank was damaged beyond repair and estimated replacement would cost more than $2,000.

Investigators reported video showed the suspect arriving in a dark red pickup truck and parking next to the van. The sheriff’s office said the license plate was visible and an RTCC analyst saw the suspect moving between the vehicles with a drill and a container…
