CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Many Charleston City Market vendors are concerned after hearing they may no longer be able to park in a place they have relied on for years.
Some vendors have used the same parking system for 50 years, and now they are “displaced.” Some of them park at a nearby parking garage, and others park in a reserved spot on the port property by East Bay Street. However, after Beemok Hospitality Group took the property over, vendors said they felt blindsided and panicked.
“We were kind of blindsided at the beginning of last week, I think, that our parking was going to be taken away from us. That’s the way we were hearing it,” Joyce Wagner, owner of Joyce’s Choices and vendor, said. “I had paid up through April, and some people had paid up through the quarter. All of a sudden, we didn’t know what was going to happen.”…
