NEW YORK — Hearst Newspapers (HNP) has announced the statewide expansion of its AI-powered Property Tax Protest Tool, “TX Tax,” across its Texas markets, building on the product’s strong performance at the Houston Chronicle — where it was nominated by the International News Media Association (INMA) for Best Newsroom Innovation — and marking one of the company’s first unified, Texas-wide product initiatives.
TX Tax provides homeowners with county-level property data and comparable property information — without offering property tax consulting or representation — that they can use if they choose to challenge their property tax assessments, a complex and often intimidating annual process in Texas. After proving to be a major subscription driver in Houston last year, the tool will debut this spring in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio, extending its reach across Hearst’s Texas markets.
TX Tax reflects HNP’s commitment to pairing trusted local journalism with practical, service-driven solutions that help readers navigate complicated issues and make informed financial decisions…
