Timeline: A State Police sergeant’s crash — and the years before the full story emerged

For more than two years, the truth of what happened when a Massachusetts State Police sergeant crashed his unmarked cruiser head-on into a wheelchair transport van on a quiet street in Woburn on a December evening in 2023 was obscured.

When police went to the scene — summoned there by the van driver’s Apple Watch — they found Sgt. Scott Quigley “disoriented and bleeding” outside his unmarked cruiser. Quigley, the van’s driver and its passenger, Angelo Schettino, were whisked away to hospitals.
