Firefighters across Western New York sharpen mayday rescue skills

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Firefighters from across Western New York gathered in Getzville for a high-intensity training program focused on one critical mission: rescuing fellow firefighters in life-threatening emergencies.

The Getzville Fire Company hosted its annual Rapid Intervention Training Course, a two-day program designed to prepare both paid and volunteer firefighters to respond when a mayday call is issued on the fire ground.
