‘I’ve had enough’: North Toledo residents looking for answers after repeated sewage backups flood their basements

TOLEDO, Ohio — A north Toledo homeowner says aging sewer infrastructure beneath her street has caused sewage to repeatedly back up into her basement for years, resulting in thousands of dollars in damage and the loss of irreplaceable family memories.

Lisa Putman has lived on Packard Road for nearly 12 years. Since purchasing her home, she says her basement has flooded multiple times, and four of those incidents severe enough to force her to file insurance claims.
