WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Century II hosted a high school career fair today. Ten schools across Sedgwick County participated, allowing 1,200 students to mingle with 86 different local companies.
“We’ve titled it ‘Momentum’, so we’re hoping to gain momentum for our students, and for employers, and the whole city of Wichita,” said Laura Barker with Wichita Public Schools. “A lot of times they know about careers, but they have no idea what local companies do. So the event is targeted for them to understand what employers do, and then hopefully if there’s opportunities for them to work for those companies now or in the future.”
Students recognized how important this opportunity was. “This whole thing is, like, really helpful,” said Wichita East High School Senior Yasa Rahman. “Especially because, like, not a lot of people have this opportunity, you know? And the fact that we get to experience this, it makes a job after high school much easier because you’re already beginning to make those connections.”…
