FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Thursday marked the beginning of construction to replace the centerpiece of Broadway Plaza: its fountain.
The structure is being replaced with an updated version following a crash back in February, according to an announcement from owners Steve Shine and Tom Hardin. On Feb. 8, a driver who was believed to be impaired lost control of his car and crashed into the fountain. The crash damaged it to the point of needing a complete replacement, the owners said.
That updated fountain is expected to be operating around the beginning of June. It will be fairly similar to what was there before, but with a new tile pattern and LED “rope lighting” for a variety of colors to be displayed on both levels of the fountain…
