Sedgwick County officials urge residents to prepare ahead of severe weather threats

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – With multiple chances for severe weather in the forecast, Sedgwick County Emergency Management is urging residents to prepare now, including identifying a safe place to shelter and assembling an emergency kit.

“When we see these threats for severe weather days, people all of a sudden start thinking about, ‘Oh my gosh, I don’t have a basement … where am I going to shelter for a tornado?’” said Cody Charvat, deputy director of Sedgwick County Emergency Management. “They need to be thinking about that ahead of time.”
