SW OKC Chase Ends With Suspect Hurling Concrete At Cop Car

A pursuit through southwest Oklahoma City turned tense on Thursday when a suspect appeared to hurl a chunk of concrete at a patrol car, all while cameras rolled from the sky. Officers arrested the man near SW 107th Street and South Western Avenue. No injuries were reported from the concrete strike.

Bob Mills’ SkyNews9 helicopter recorded the chase from above and captured the moment the suspect bent down, grabbed what looked like a broken piece of concrete, and threw it at a marked cruiser, according to News 9. The outlet reports the pursuit ended shortly afterward, when officers moved in, detained the man and began inspecting the patrol vehicle for damage.

How The Stop Played Out

Police confronted the suspect at the intersection of SW 107th and South Western, where officers detained him and secured the area. The roadway in the immediate vicinity was briefly cleared while they wrapped up the stop, investigated the incident and placed the man into custody.

Risk Police Know All Too Well

Launching heavy objects at moving vehicles puts officers, other drivers and bystanders in real danger, and Oklahoma City has seen this kind of thing before. In a 2019 case reported by KFOR, a man was accused of repeatedly throwing concrete blocks at police vehicles, a reminder of why officers treat these incidents as more than just property damage.

Questions Still Hanging Out There

According to News 9, authorities had not yet released the suspect’s name or detailed information about potential charges at the time of the station’s report. It was also not clear whether any additional arrests or counts might follow. We contacted the Oklahoma City Police Department for comment and will update this story once booking or charging records are publicly available…
