Clark softball uses ‘small ball’ to complete first round playoff sweep over Taft

Perhaps more painful than getting overpowered is being on the receiving end of a death-by-a-thousand cuts performance Clark displayed in its 13-2 victory against Taft in Game 2 of their Class 6A Division I first-round playoff.

The Cougars slapped 16 hits with more than half coming in the infield. Those hits coupled with five steals, Clark manufactured its way to series sweep in five innings on Friday at Northside Field No. 2.

“We usually play good under pressure, which is why playoffs is so important,” senior third baseman Kayla Woods said. “Putting the defense under pressure makes us just so hyped up and we just work together as a team.”…
