Kenner Family Feud Ends In Blood As Man Convicted In Brother-In-Law Slaying

A years-long family feud in Kenner has ended with a manslaughter conviction, after prosecutors say a tense history between two in-laws exploded into deadly violence in 2024. The victim, 43-year-old Reginald Scott Jr., was found wounded outside an apartment in the 4200 block of Chateau Boulevard, and court records trace the conflict back more than a decade.

According to WGNO, Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick Jr. said 35-year-old Warren Smith was convicted of manslaughter on Aug. 4, 2024, in Scott’s death. Prosecutors say Smith fired three shots, then took off from the scene, and authorities later arrested him in Baton Rouge. Assistant District Attorney Molly Love told investigators that Smith had bought a 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol two weeks before the shooting, according to court filings.
