ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Throngs of friends, families and well-wishers gathered in the halls of Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Saturday to welcome home a group of Alaskan Vietnam veterans returning from their Honor Flight.
“That was totally the opposite of the greeting that I got,” veteran Jeff Craig said as he thought about his return from Vietnam in 1971 when he and others were spit on. “But it was quite different, it brought tears to my eyes when we came back this time.”
During the trip, put on by the Last Frontier Honor Flight, veterans visited various war memorials and monuments throughout the D.C. area…
