Zoo in Wichita celebrates a vulture’s milestone birthday

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Wildlife Exhibit celebrated a very special birthday on Sunday.

Chuck the turkey vulture turned 32, which is more than a decade longer than his species is expected to live in the wild. Todd Volkmann, an exhibit caretaker at KWE, said they make sure to celebrate Chuck every year now.

To mark the milestone, caretakers created a special cake and had a crowd of visitors sing Happy Birthday. Volkmann said Chuck has become a favorite for people who have been coming to the zoo for years.
