Bell Textron unveils new Wichita assembly center for Army helicopter

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The aerospace manufacturer Bell Textron opened the doors of its new assembly center in Wichita on Monday.

Workers there are building the fuselage — main body — of the Army’s MV-75 Cheyenne II. This is a new long-range assault aircraft that can take off vertically and travel twice as fast and as far as a Black Hawk helicopter.

It will be able to quickly carry troops to the front and transport service members in need of medical care.

“This aircraft will fundamentally change the way the Army fights with about two or three other revolutionary programs,” said Mike Obadal, the undersecretary of the U.S. Army. “It will allow us to project power in ways that we were not able to before, to bypass contested areas that the Army would’ve had to fight through in years before.”…
