MONTGOMERY CO., Tenn. (WSMV) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office launched a new program that would help deputies better interact with people with autism or who may have additional accommodations needed.
The sheriff’s office said the Blue Envelope Program launched Tuesday, with packets available to pick up at the MCSO office at 120 Commerce Street in Clarksville.
“The Blue Envelope Program is a localized communication support tool used during law enforcement encounters, most commonly traffic stops, to assist individuals who may experience communication, sensory, or cognitive challenges,” MCSO said. “The program is primarily intended to support individuals with autism spectrum disorder, but it may also benefit others with similar needs.”…
