Flanagan’s sold to new owner with plans for ‘reimagined’ restaurant

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Flanagan’s building has been sold to an owner who plans to launch a “reimagined” restaurant after a complete renovation, according to the real estate company that helped broker the deal.

A restaurant called Flanagans Social House will launch under a new owner, who has not yet been named but has a “sophisticated understanding of the Grand Rapids market,” according to Shawn Jacobs with MOXIE Real Estate + Development, who helped broker the deal.

Flanagan’s Irish Pub, located on Pearl Street near Monroe Avenue, went up for sale in September 2024 when the owner decided to retire. Since then, the pub’s liquor license was suspended and it closed in the summer of 2025. A judge ordered its seizure this month after it defaulted on a $750,000 loan.
