LANSING, Mich — Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed two bills into Tuesday after both pieces of legislation passed the with bipartisan support in both the Michigan House and Senate.
The bills designate May as Chaldean American Month, and rename a portion of US-131 to honor a Kalamazoo native and member of the United States Air Force who died in 2015.
“I’m proud to sign these two bipartisan bills honoring the contributions and service of Michiganders,” said Gov. Whitmer. “Chaldean Americans have made a valuable impact on Michigan, and designating May as ‘Chaldean American Month’ lets us honor their contributions to our state. I’m also honored to designate a portion of US-131 as ‘Master Sergeant Gregory T. Kuhse Memorial Highway’ to recognize the outstanding service and sacrifice of U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Gregory Kuhse. His devotion to his family and his country represents the very best of our state. I hope that his memory will continue to be an inspiration for all Michiganders.”…
