Longtime bakery to close Columbus location after tragic loss

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Members of Gigi’s Cupcakes of Columbus, Georgia, announced on Saturday that the business has decided to put its bakery space up for sale following the passing of one of the owners.

In a social media post, Gigi’s Cupcakes team members released a statement letting the community know that following the tragic loss of co-owner Jennifer Cooper and the unexpected changes that her passing brought to the family, the team feels that it’s time to step back and allow someone else to have the space.

Under the ownership of Patrick and Jennifer Cooper, Gigi’s Cupcakes has been in Columbus for 14 years. Their baking journey began in 2010, which their business said is guided by faith, family, and a calling to serve others well.

The business has another location in Opelika, Ala. Team members stated that what started as a shared love for cupcakes between the couple became a 15-year mission of pouring love into the Auburn-Opelika and Columbus communities…
