Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson and her chief financial officer bonded out of the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center Wednesday following their indictment on state corruptions charges, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Hutson and Bianka Brown “turned themselves in earlier this afternoon at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in accordance with a court order issued on behalf of Orleans Parish,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “Both individuals have since met bond requirements and have been released.”
Hutson’s bond was set at $300,000, while Brown’s was set at $200,000. A grand jury handed up a 23-page indictment Wednesday charging Hutson with with 30 counts: 14 for malfeasance in office, three for filing or maintaining false public records, three for obstruction of justice, and 10 conspiracy charges for those crimes.
