NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — An ancient Roman funerary stone was recovered by the FBI in New Orleans. It was returned to Italy in a ceremony in Rome on Wednesday, April 29.
According to the FBI, a New Orleans resident reported finding a Roman-imperial era tablet in May of 2025 while cleaning up her backyard. It was turned over to the FBI and given to their Art Crime Team in November 2025, where the return of the item was coordinated.
