A foot of rain and a ticking clock: Northwest Ohio farmers race to plant after record-wet spring start

METAMORA, Ohio β€” After the wettest start to spring on record in northwest Ohio, farmers across the region are facing a familiar but uneasy question: will they be able to get their crops in the ground on time?

According to the WTOL 11 weather team, April brought 6.25 inches of rain, making it the fourth wettest April on record. Combined with March, the region has seen 12.11 inches of rainfall β€” the first time on record more than a foot of rain has fallen during those two months.
