This famous New Orleans po-boy shop will invade a Biloxi fine dining restaurant for one night only

New Orleans’ Parkway Bakery & Tavern will head to the Mississippi Coast for one day only this summer, bringing French bread, frying oil and mayonnaise to serve the city’s signature po-boys at White Pillars Restaurant & Lounge.

The Biloxi fine dining restaurant announced the June 7 collaboration in a Facebook post on Wednesday. By 10 p.m. that night, the pop-up event was sold out with nearly 250 reservations — a swift turnout that came as no surprise to chef Austin Sumrall, the owner of White Pillars. Still, Sumrall encourages diners to watch for cancellations on OpenTable.

Justin Kennedy, Parkway’s head chef, will lead the kitchen team at White Pillars, showing them how to prepare some of the menu’s “heavy hitters,” Sumrall said. The restaurant will also serve small plates and gumbo, along with what Sumrall described as “familiar White Pillars dishes in po-boy form.”…
