WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Open Streets ICT held its second event of the year on Sunday afternoon, drawing thousands of people into the streets of Wichita’s Nomar neighborhood for an afternoon of local food, music and performances.
The event highlighted the vibrant Latin American culture of the area. Organizers said the event is designed to bring neighbors together and celebrate the people and businesses that call the area home.
“Wichita, it’s a big melting pot, and I think it’s a good way to get to know your neighbor and other neighborhoods in town,” said Sam Nava, a volunteer at the event. “As you guys see, it’s a good way for other vendors of different cultures to come in and spread their resources and what they’re selling too. So on top of them coming in and like, experiencing the cultures, it’s a way for other cultures to come in and share what they have to different communities.”…
