ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – According to a new State of Alaska Epidemiology report, 92 people have been hit and killed by vehicles in Anchorage in the last decade.
The report tracks pedestrian fatalities in Anchorage between 2016 and 2025.
“We can’t issue citations to drivers. We can’t issue citations to pedestrians. What we can do from the public health response is look at those specific areas of just overall risk factor mitigation,” said Riley Fitting, an Epidemiology Specialist 2 with the State of Alaska Epidemiology. “This is something that we’ve had in mind because this is an injury that has been growing in prevalence recently.”…
