Temperatures could exceed 100 degrees in areas of Southern California this Mother’s Day weekend.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center anticipates that hotter-than-average temperatures could hit the region in the next six to 10 days. The Inland Empire and southern Central Valley are among the areas that could see triple-digit heat.
“Triple-digit heat is likely for parts of California and the Southwest late this weekend into next week, with highs potentially reaching 110 degrees in the desert Southwest, and 100 to 105 degrees in southern sections of the Central Valley of California,” the Climate Prediction Center wrote on social media Monday.
