United Way of Amarillo & Canyon’s Youth Leadership Cabinet allocates $40k back into community

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The United Way of Amarillo and Canyon’s Youth Leadership Cabinet is allocating $40,000 back into the community on May 5.

According to officials with the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon, students from Amarillo, Canyon, Bushland, Ascension Academy, and River Road school districts, from elementary to high school, engaged in a community-based philanthropic effort to raise funds throughout the school year.

Officials noted the Youth Leadership Cabinet received 29 grant applications from local non-profits and organizations. Members of the cabinet evaluated each application individually, conducted site visits, and met on April 7 as a collective to “allocate funds to projects that exemplified positive community impact and the Youth Leadership Cabinet mission.”
