It was a mostly empty house at the Dryades YMCA on Tuesday evening as the Sewerage & Water Board, under fire from New Orleans elected officials, kicked off a series of community meetings to engage directly with residents. Few showed up.
Nearly all of the 20 or so people in attendance were S&WB board members and staff, who listened as Executive Director Randy Hayman cycled through talking points about the utility’s funding challenges, recent water main failures and upcoming projects.
