‘Bodies may be found, but the trauma never, ever ends’: Alaska delegation announces MMIP task force

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – It’s an unforgettable image: A red colored hand print, symbolically placed over a person’s mouth, silencing their story and suppressing justice.

The iconic illustration depicts a horrific truth in Alaska: men and women from Alaska Native communities face higher rates of domestic and sexual violence than other populations, according to data reviewed by the Department of Justice.
