Greensboro clinic will repay $584K after Medicaid fraud investigation, officials say

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Greensboro treatment provider will pay more than half a million dollars to resolve allegations that it improperly billed the state’s Medicaid program.

North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson announced a $584,143 settlement with Crossroads Treatment Center of Greensboro, following a joint investigation with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of North Carolina.

According to investigators, the facility submitted claims for urine drug testing between 2019 and 2023 without giving physicians the option to order lower-level tests. Officials say that led to more complex — and more expensive — testing than was medically necessary…
