Anchorage schools shift to fresh, scratch-made lunch program

Students across the Anchorage School District are seeing major changes to their school lunch program as the district moves away from prepackaged meals and toward freshly made hot food.

District leaders say the new approach emphasizes scratch-made meals prepared on site. The updated six-week rotating menu will include a variety of cuisines such as Asian, Italian, and Mexican, along with some vegan options.
